Joint venture

April 17, 2009

During one of our interactions with Team Eindhoven, they came up with a novel idea of conducting a survey among the auto rickshaw drivers to find out more about how they operate, their expenses and their opinions. We thought this would be extremely helpful to all the teams and offer us an insight into the daily lives of the auto rickshaw driver. Team Eindhoven then prepared and sent a questionnaire to be answered by the drivers. We at Team SRM then set about conducting the survey among the auto rickshaw drivers in and around the city.

New and improved!

March 12, 2009

While awaiting our guide’s approval on certain design aspects, i decided to colour our logo which was originally in black and white. Being the jobless guy that I am, i coloured it using MS Paint(lack of knowledge of image editing soft-wares notwithstanding)!!

p.s- I whipped out my 8th grade atlas for my rendition of the world, hope you like it !

At your service…

March 11, 2009

We had a tie up with the Khivraj Service Centre here to provide us with training to help us get a first hand feel of the various parts and functions of the components of the engine. They suggested the dismantling of the engine to act as a visual aid and we thought this would be a great opportunity to perform the servicing of the engine. Under the guidance of their engineers, we poured in new oil, changed all the oil seals and replaced the old cables with new ones. The whole dismantling and assembly process took two days and now we’re ready to go.

Here are a few photos of what we did.

Hello there !

August 12, 2008

Team SRM joined the battle with the intention of designing and fabricating an upgrade kit that helps reduce CO2 emissions in auto rickshaws and also reduces the amount of money spent on fuel.

Given the large number of auto rickshaws in our country, we found this to be a very exciting and innovative project. It gives us an oppurtuinty to do our bit for the environment and also offers international exposure.

Our goal is to reduce CO2 emissions by 40-60% and increase the savings on fuel. This will improve the quality of air and also benefit the auto rickshaw drvers.

Our team consists of six students, all from the department of automobile engineering, plus three faculty members from the same department to guide and help us.

More posts, updates and photos follow, please feel free to leave a comment and tell us what you think or if you have any suggestions.
