During one of our interactions with Team Eindhoven, they came up with a novel idea of conducting a survey among the auto rickshaw drivers to find out more about how they operate, their expenses and their opinions. We thought this would be extremely helpful to all the teams and offer us an insight into the daily lives of the auto rickshaw driver. Team Eindhoven then prepared and sent a questionnaire to be answered by the drivers. We at Team SRM then set about conducting the survey among the auto rickshaw drivers in and around the city.

While awaiting our guide’s approval on certain design aspects, i decided to colour our logo which was originally in black and white. Being the jobless guy that I am, i coloured it using MS Paint(lack of knowledge of image editing soft-wares notwithstanding)!!

p.s- I whipped out my 8th grade atlas for my rendition of the world, hope you like it !

Although i’m terribly late with this blog, we finally received our tuk-tuk in January after months of waiting. Suddenly things started looking up and everyone got into action. Potential sponsors have been identified and talks are currently going on. The team is also geting ready to perform preliminary tests on the tuk-tuk and ascertain the performance of the vehicle. More on this in the following weeks.

After a month and a half month of exams, we finally relaxed today as the exam fever is over. Now its time to work, and the redeemers are all set.Tomorrow first thing in the morning we will go and get our auto rickshaw. The inspection was done, now all we have to do is purchase it. Our winter vacations start from today but we have decided to work through december in order to bring the project upto pace. If all goes well tomorrow,we’ll be able to get our tuk-tuk.

Team SRM joined the battle with the intention of designing and fabricating an upgrade kit that helps reduce CO2 emissions in auto rickshaws and also reduces the amount of money spent on fuel.
Given the large number of auto rickshaws in our country, we found this to be a very exciting and innovative project. It gives us an oppurtuinty to do our bit for the environment and also offers international exposure.
Our goal is to reduce CO2 emissions by 40-60% and increase the savings on fuel. This will improve the quality of air and also benefit the auto rickshaw drvers.
Our team consists of six students, all from the department of automobile engineering, plus three faculty members from the same department to guide and help us.
